'Dead' Baby Found Alive in Coffin

(Aug. 9) - A newborn boy declared dead by doctors in Paraguay was found to be alive hours later after he was taken home for his funeral.

Doctors at a state hospital in Asuncion, Paraguay, told Jose Alvarenga on Friday that his premature baby had been pronounced dead shortly after birth, the Telegraph reported.

The hospital delivered the baby's body in a temporary coffin to Alvarenga's home a few hours later.

Mourning relatives were shocked when they heard the baby cry, The Associated Press reported.
"I opened [the coffin] to look at his remains and found that the baby was breathing," Alvarenga said. "I began to cry."

The baby is now listed in stable condition. Officials are investigating to determine whether there was any negligence involved. The AP said that doctors also had initially told Alvarenga that the baby was a girl.

"This is a very unusual case," said Ernesto Weber, head of pediatric intensive care at the hospital, according to told the Agence France-Presse.
Aida Notario, a doctor at the hospital's birthing center, said the baby's pulse was so low it was undetectable.

Dad Reaches Out After Child's Death
Writes Touching Letter on Safety After Daughter Drowned

(July 31) -- Iysha Kruyer, 2, drowned Wednesday night while swimming with her sister in the family pool in Henderson, Nev. Her father, Paul Kruyer, reached out amid his family's grief to remind other parents to keep a vigilant eye on their children.
"Every summer a story about a child drowning would inevitably be aired on the evening news. Every time, it would bring tears to my eyes & my heart would go out to 'that poor unfortunate family.' I never believed it would happen to us," Kruyer wrote in a touching letter to KTNV Action News.

"We watch our children too closely... until the one time you don't," Kruyer said in his note.
Kuyer and his wife, Annalee, are all too familiar with keeping an eye on children: They have five others. The couple work in a dental practice together, he as the office manager. Just days before the drowning, the station had interviewed Annalee Kruyer about donating her dental services to a woman in need.
The heart-wrenching letter reveals the conflicted feelings of a parent who has so suddenly lost a child. Though Kruyer recalled the firm rules he had in place for his children and the pool, he said he cannot escape the intense guilt he feels over his daughter's death.
"If I had just gotten home earlier, if I had warned the kids more, if we had moved already, if I had kept Iysha at the office one more year SHE would still be alive," Kruyer wrote.
But in spite of the suffering Kruyer and his family are going through, his message is for other families. "If one less child drowns because THEIR family has felt our grief and become just that much more vigilant... then witnessing our sorrow will be worth the hours, days and future years of heartache," he wrote.

“Form follows you”
A personal mobile communication device which lets you be free and fun. It is light, simple and carefree. You can change its form according to your needs during the day.

*target

It is targeted to the young consumers who are likely to be active and take place in a lot of different activities.

*why this target ?

Because they move and change place too much. They do a lot of different things during the day. So that’s what my design offers : to adjust to the moment, the place and the function.

*technologies that are used

It uses liquid battery, speech recognition, flexible touch screen, touch sensitive body cover which lets it understand and adjust to the environment. It has a simple programmable body mechanism so that it changes forms in different situations.

*the functionality of design

You dont have to carry it in your pocket or on your wrist. You can carry it anywhere, in anyform. You can roll it, bend it, put on your clothes like a clip. It also makes some form changes that makes it more ergonomical: i.e. when you want to talk on the phone, the body form turns into the form of the good old telephone. You can personalize these forms and record them. So it fits you the best in the way that you have chosen. The functions that it has also create a feeling of electronical pet, as it senses your moves, understand what you want, respond you in the best way. It learns you, to fit you better.Also e-motions lets you send forms to the other 888 users. It could be the shape of a heart or a small dance. This way you can talk without words.

*how the user interacts

E-motions… It means electronical motions that 888 has. You can send and receive forms from / to friends. You can send a heart shape to your girlfriend, so her telephone turns into an icon of heart. Or you can send a dancing form to your friends to call them to the party tonight. This is the fun side of the product. If we look from the functionality side, 888 is quite flexible. You can put it into your pocket, roll it and make it smaller, or put on your wrist when you want to make a video call on the go. If you want to talk like a normal telephone, there you have your telephone shape. We go through a lot of places and situations in the daily life, so it seems like one form is not enough.

You can change the form of the body. Not just the color. And you can do the same by sending an e-motion to your friend.

iPod Saves Lightning Strike Victim

(June 19) -- Sophie Frost was lucky to receive an ipod from her grandmother, not just for enjoying tunes on the go but for saving her life several days later when she was struck by a powerful bolt of lightning.

The 14-year-old British girl was hit by a 300,000-volt bolt while she and her boyfriend were standing underneath a tree. Although the impact knocked them both out and left them with minor burns, the electricity was diverted away from her vital organs, the Daily Mail reported.

Shocking Savior Sophie Frost,14, was spared the worst part of a lightning strike when the electricity followed her iPod headphones to the ground away from her key organs.

Experts credit her survival to the fact that the headphones to her digital music player were hanging from her clothes, away from her body.

Physicians also attribute her good fortune to her boyfriend, Mason Billington, 14, who was holding her hand at the time and thus diluted some of the powerful current.

"I'm doing OK. I'm doing well," Frost told the Daily Mail. "I've had a few burns down my body but it's all healing OK."

Week-Old Puppy Recovering After Being Accidentally Flushed Down the Toilet

Four-year-old Daniel Blair thought he was being a good boy when he decided to give a week-old cocker spaniel puppy a bath. Unfortunately, the child tried to bathe the puppy in the toilet, and, when he pulled the chain, the tiny pup was flushed right down!

Sky News reports that neighbors were asked not to flush for fear of sending the pup out to the sewer while the fire brigade and RSPCA tried -- but were unable -- to rescue the puppy, which was trapped in a pipe 20 yards from the home.

Drain experts Dyno-Rod were called in for the rescue. They used specialist camera gear to locate the pooch, after which they were able to nudge the animal to a manhole cover so the firemen could grab him.

The puppy, now aptly name Dyno, is recovering, and little Daniel is "so, so sorry." But hey, he learned a lesson -- puppies go in the tub and poopies go in the loo.
